Disneyland's version of Pirates of the Caribbean was the last ride that Walt Disney himself participated in designing, debuting three months after his death. Originally slated to be a wax museum but after the 1964 World Fair and the success of It’s a Small World, Walt decided to use the same boat ride system for Pirates
