Listen Later

Since 1987, Jock has been perfecting the science of performance. He now transfers this knowledge and experience to Olympic athletes, national sporting teams and the general population.

From November 2000 until November 2005 Jock was the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Australian Cricket Team. During this period the Team was World Champions in both Test Match and One Day Cricket); it was the most successful period in the team’s history. During the 2004/05 Season the Team also had its lowest percentage of injuries in recorded history!

Jock has been training and coaching surf lifesaving athletes for the past 20 years and his athletes have won several gold medals at State, National and World Titles. Jock, himself, is a World Champion in the 2km beach run!

He has also worked with the NSW Cricket Team, Olympic athletes and gold medal performers in athletics, soccer (football), swimming, rugby league, rugby union, wrestling, gladiators, karate, boxing and netball.

In this episode of Running Matters, Jock shares his immense knowledge with Paul (Haddy) Hadfield. They chat about what it takes to be a ‘pro’ athlete, avoiding the dreaded stress fracture, managing the psychology of the athlete and much more.

You’re guaranteed to pick up a little gem to apply to your own performance.
