When I was a kid, I used to hear my parents and grandparents say “we have enough, to want more is selfish”. That wanting more than “your fair share” was somehow greedy or selfish. I get it. I get why they thought that.
My grandparents lived through the Depression. To have your needs met was a blessing. Then they passed that thinking down to my parents. It totally made sense for them in the context of their life experiences. So I heard it, I believed it.
But it wasn’t what I wanted. I wanted more. And I struggled with the belief that wanting more was selfish for most of my life.
Something inside me always wanted more – I’ve always had a burning desire to help others on a LARGE scale.
I wanted a life with more impact, more influence, and more contribution. All those things are a whole lot easier to achieve when you have more money. I was stuck.
This belief that to want more was selfish kept competing with this desire to make a big impact. I had to change my belief if I was EVER going to live the life I envisioned.
Those old beliefs are powerful and until I examined mine and changed them, I couldn’t move forward. That’s why I went on a quest to figure it out how to change my beliefs so I could change my life.
In today’s episode, I’ll be sharing how you can use the same process I did to let go of your old stories and create new beliefs that align with your heart’s desires.
