That’s right! I want to start on the right foot here to make the seemingly technical, experiential for all of us. So, join me as we unpack UI and UX in a way that will answer your question, what’s in it for me.

In today’s episode, we dive into the fascinating but often misunderstood technical world of UI and UX. But before you doze off, let me tell you that my conversation with Ali Said, UX motion designer and founder of Temporal LLC, is way into the fascinating side of the spectrum.

UI and UX Simplified

Contrary to first impressions, UI and UX are not just for IT people to understand. Whatever business you are in, especially now that almost all of us have an e-commerce side of our business, UI and UX play a significant role in giving our customers the utmost satisfaction.

“UI or User Interface is basically the screen and anything you see in the screen while UX or User Experience is the user-friendliness of your app. If your app is hard to use, it has poor UX.” Ali put in the simplest term possible.

He further explained that having a bad UX and UI will make you lose money. And even if your UX is good but your UI is not, you will lose credibility. UX is all about the ROI, and as business owners, ROI is something we are so familiar with.

The 3 Most Important Things

As to the connection of motion design for our clients, Ali lays on the table three factors:

1. Motion can remove uncertainty.

      Uncertainty is never a good feeling to give when we build a relationship with our clients, and one way to provide them with that certainty is to let them know that, yes, we get your input. The motion design in your app or website should give them that control and certainty.

2. It can hide latency

     Hiding latency is all about easing the waiting time. A simple loader can assure your client that the machine is thinking and something is happening.

3. It can improve navigation.

     Every time you navigate, there is a risk of a state of disorientation. Whenever you interact with an app, there’s a risk of some confusion, disruption, or disorientation. Your motion design should prevent that when it shows users clearly where they are at in the process of using your app or website.
