A 1950s Chinese communist propaganda campaign that was intended to convince the Chinese citizens to kill all of the rats, mosquitos, flies, and sparrows in China. However, this mass extermination seriously damaged China's ecological system, leading to famine.
Also, Liv proposes theatrical performances as a solution to famine. Ian knows the difference between crack and cocaine.
