Last week, we wrapped up Disneyland’s second decade, and now we’re diving headfirst into the incredible changes of the late 1970s and early 1980s. This era saw the park celebrate America’s Bicentennial, welcome iconic attractions like Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and debut the beloved Main Street Electrical Parade. We watched Fantasyland transform into a Bavarian fairytale, ticket books disappear in favor of single admission, and Disneyland finally open its gates 365 days a year. With new leadership, legendary parades, and milestone celebrations, Disneyland’s third decade was truly a time of innovation, nostalgia, and magic for millions of guests.
