Healing from trauma is a journey, not a destination. Growing up in a home clouded by domestic violence and experiencing sexual harassment left deep wounds in my soul, shaping my self-esteem and identity. However, the narrative changed - I am no longer a victim, but a survivor. With strength and peace, I share my story hoping to uplift those who are battling similar traumas.
The impact of childhood trauma is profound and long-lasting. It can lead to depression and hyper-independence in teens, and have enduring effects on relationships and coping mechanisms in adulthood. However, it's possible to transform the pain into power. By honoring your body and feelings, making use of available resources, engaging in family therapy, and practicing grounding techniques, I've navigated my healing journey. I'll introduce you to the Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) technique and the ABC model, resources that have been invaluable in my healing process. This conversation is a beacon of hope for anyone grappling with trauma. You're seen, you're heard, and most importantly, you're not alone.
