The sports world, and work schedules haven’t been kind to the fellas here at #BNCPod, but we’ll be damned if we don’t press on! And with that said, welcome to episode 74 of the show. And on today’s show we’ll kick things off talking about the commitment of Makur Maker to play basketball at Howard University, and his attempt to bring other high value recruits to play at HBCUs as opposed to going to the traditional power elite schools in the NCAA.Will this become a movement among young prospects, or is this too little too late for HBCUs? We move on to the NFL where Cam Newton has just become the newest Quarterback for the New England Patriots, and many believe the Patriots got themselves a steal. Richard Sherman for one, thinks it’s shameful that Newton is being paid so little, but will Cam Newton give the Patriots the biggest bang for their bucks this coming season, that is, if there is a season?

The Washington Redskins are facing more pressure than ever to change the name of their team. After years of team owner Dan Snyder’s insistence that he would never change the name, some corporate partners have decided to put the screws on the organization. And this time it’s seems to be working. What’s different about this time, as opposed to all the other pushes to get them to change the name of that team. And the pressure on Washington has also made the Cleveland Indians take formal steps into changing their name as well. We’ll discuss what we think all this means.

Then we get to the NBA, as they prepare to restart the season in a bubble in Orlando Florida, some last minute roster changes are happening because some players do have concerns about the Coronavirus, some have opted out for personal family reasons. One key addition to a championship caliber team is that of JR Smith joining the LA Lakers. Is he the piece that puts them over the hump? And with so many things happening to make the restart of this season so difficult, Giannis Antetokounmpo believes that this will be the toughest championship ever won in the NBA, challenging the idea that whomever wins the chip this year won’t really be respected as a true champion. Is he right, we’ll definitely be discussing that.

And then of course, like always, we’ll wrap up everything up by Winging It out.
