If you look at some of the great events that caused generational suffering for the people of God they all have one thing in common. Abraham fathering Ishmael, Esau throwing away his birthright, the sons of Eli the High Priest defaming the tabernacle, King Saul losing the kingdom, and David committing adultery with Bathsheba, all show a willful disregard for God’s lordship over time. Each person’s story highlights the cost of not being intentional with the role that they had been given and the significance of the season of life they were in. They lost sight of the eternal importance of time.
