-She tells the story of how she stood up to the patriarchy of the Catholic church in seventh grade when she was determined to be an alter server during a time when only boys were allowed to fill that role 

-Shannon has since left the church, but she will never forget what it felt like to stand up to power and realize that her peers were not allies in her fight 

-She walks us through what it looks like to be an ally and how to start down the road of activism
