Mesilas Yesharim

Ep. 84 – Do You Want to Know What Hashem Really Wants

Listen Later

Stop guessing—Hashem already told you what He wants. The Mesilas Yesharim teaches that the path to zerizus is through Torah engagement. You want to hear God's voice? Open a sefer. You want to know what He expects? Learn halacha. There's a silly song that says, "I want you to be my Rebbe, tell me what to do." That's shtuyot. The Torah is your Rebbe. The Chovos HaLevavos says that claiming "I'm just waiting for Hashem to tell me what to do" isn't bitachon—it's ignoring the instruction manual He already gave you.

Walk into certain cities in Israel and you can feel the tumah in the air—even people who aren't super sensitive to ruchniyus feel disgusted. But how can so many people live there and not notice? Their neshamos are buried under garbage, completely desensitized. The more you learn Torah, the more sensitive you become to what's truly good. Rav Chaim Ozer Grodzinski was driven through Times Square in an enclosed car and started banging on the windows to escape—he couldn't see anything, but he felt the tumah. Can you develop that sensitivity? Will you let Torah sharpen your awareness of what's real?
