These expressions indicate a distorted power dynamic where one person – in this case, the woman – has a sense of control over and could easily manipulate the man she’s dating or in a relationship with. 

And most times, if we want control over something or someone, it’s usually because some part of us doesn’t feel safe, and is trying to engineer a sense of safety by having control. 

But creating this kind of dynamic doesn’t actually get us closer to the love, intimacy and connection we so deeply crave.
