A blockchain is a continuously growing list of records, called blocks, which are linked and secured using cryptography. Cryptocurrencies are decentralized, meaning they are not subject to government or financial institution control. Bitcoin, the first and most well-known cryptocurrency, was created in 2009. Cryptoassets are digital assets that use cryptography and can be traded on decentralized exchanges. Cryptoassets include cryptocurrencies, tokens, and smart contracts.
