The relationships we have for a life time, can be the one's most challenging to navigate when it comes to alcohol.
They are also the one's that hold the greatest opportunity for self inquiry and personal growth.
Sometimes alcohol is a big part of connecting to the other.
Othertimes the other is "why" you drink.
Familial relationships are the hardest to navigate because although it's still a choice, they are the constant in our lives.
Today I share a story of my own emotional triggers involving a recent interaction with my own Mother and the steps I took to gain control of my own inner boundaries and to continue my healing journey of awakening to unconditional love for myself and for the other.
We can get new results not by changing the circumstance or even seeing the "bad circumstance" as positive, but by bringing the circumstance to neutral and becoming the compassionate witness, for yourself first, then the other will follow.
