The Big Ten preseason poll is out, and Penn State has been picked for the No. 1 spot. On this episode, Jason Whitlock breaks down the rankings and argues that Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin is over-rated and will not, despite the hype, be winning the Big Ten championship. Franklin, who Whitlock labels the "Great Black Hope,” is the conference’s Gerry Cooney: The wins on his record have been racked up against such non-heavy hitters as SMU and Boise State, while his teams’ performance against top teams has been pitiful. PSU rival Ohio State is another Big Ten favorite, and Franklin’s teams have a 1-10 record against the Buckeyes and eight straight losses. Later in the show, Whitlock discusses Jerry Jones’ latest eyebrow-raising press conference and how the 82-year-old is now an old man incapable of not speaking the truth. Whitlock revisits the list of nominees for Purple Hearts earned by combating woke sports, as well as sports-fan demands submitted by listeners (and some they rejected). In the wake of The Cosby Show actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s untimely death, Whitlock rounds out the show with a can’t-miss rundown of the greatest-ever black sitcoms.
