We called it a "must win" going in and we were mostly optimistic, thought the defense would fare better than they did vs. the Chiefs, thought we'd feed off the excitement of Spencer Rattler's debut (which we all agree was all you could really ask for from a rookie debut), BUT...the Saints fell short and now it appears that the season's hopes hang by a thread. And...no rest for the weary as the next matchup comes on Thursday in the much-anticipated return of Sean Payton to the Dome wearing another team's threads, not to mention the Drew Brees Saints Hall of Fame induction happening the same night.
With all of that, we had a lot of thoughts in this one, including what we think the team should do at QB going forward. Do we feel like the answer is simple and Derek Carr should retake the reins regardless of how Rattler looked on Sunday and going forward? Did we see enough out of Rattler to consider rolling with him for the remainder of the season? Or is that decision simply premature at this point?
Plus, what the hell is up with the defense? How much is to blame on the offense's inability to sustain drives, thus keeping an aging unit on the field longer than it should be? Is there even ANY excuse, regardless of age/offensive woes for giving up almost SIX HUNDRED yards to the opposing offense?
We get into all that and more in this one. TUNE IN! WHO DAT?!
