The Preacher of Ecclesiastes introduces the ways he searched for meaning and joy—wisdom, work, pleasure and leaving a legacy—and tells us each pursuit ended in frustration, which he calls vanity. As Pastor Bruce reminds us, however, these pursuits are not a waste of time because they each moved the Preacher (and us) closer to the truth source of joy: God.
