Our teen ambassador Kate is back! After our first podcast on Teens Teaching Teens this past winter (Season 3, Episode 74), parents from all over the country wrote to us about their teens' struggles with chronic issues. Kate and I started working to connect these kids with the mindset and work they needed to heal. Catherine was one of these kids - A D1 athlete who is off to college to play Lacrosse. At the time, she was suffering in chronic knee pain, even with a clean MRI. After meeting with us and dedicating herself to a JournalSpeak practice, Catherine is back on the field and no longer in pain. Truly, it has changed her life. It's been fantastic working with a teen ambassador. Kate will be joining us at OMEGA! S3 Ep88: Teen Sports Injuries and a JournalSpeak Success Story with Kate and Catherine

I met NBA Denver Nugget's Forward Michael Porter, Jr. at a rather low point in his life. He had been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease while still in his teens, and by the time we crossed paths he'd had three back surgeries that didn't cure his pain. In fact, in the Summer of 2023 when we came together, he was in a flare so bad he was struggling to walk up the stairs. Thankfully for Mike, he is blessed with an open mind and a curious nature. He knew after surgery #3 that he had to find another way to look at his pain, or risk losing his career. After discovering Dr. Sarno's work, he quickly came across mine. Michael's life has never been the same. 



He dove into JournalSpeak, boldly and bravely looking at the places he was holding anger, grief, and shame. He examined his childhood, and made profound connections about things like achieving in basketball and his perception of being loved. Paired with the essentials of a TMS mindset and an understanding of the brain science, unearthing these core emotions and truths set him free. Today, Michael is (pun intended) at the top of his game. He has no chronic back pain whatsoever, and when he gets even a hint of a sensation, he need only employ the principles of MindBody medicine to send it on its way. I could go on forever about his uncommon wisdom for a 25-year-old, but I'd rather you hear it from Michael yourself. How great to connect with another Sarno OG! Karen, like me, sat across from Dr. Sarno in his iconic office at The Rusk Center for Rehabilitation at NYU/Langone in New York City back in the day when he was still in practice. His confident and unapologetic style was the inspiration for everything I do and teach, and Karen is right there with me. I have been hearing from Karen for years, as although Sarno was her intro to this work, she credits my contributions for taking her to the next level of wellness. Today we talk about her inspiring story, as well as dive into a bit of a Real Time Heal around her persistent symptoms of allergies and nasal congestion.
