Talking a bit about one of my favorite films, Juzo Itami's 1985Tampopo, a sexy and hungry comedy. Specifically, I'm looking at "the first ramen western" insofar as it represents Japan on the national stage, a country that ascended to prominence and decadence through the tutelage and emulation of other superpower nations.
