My son's former baseball coach used to always say, "piss-poor practice promotes piss-poor performance". Because I have an aversion to practice (running scales, rehearsing speeches, and the like, I guess that means that I'm just out of luck.

Instead of throwing in the towel, I looked at my training methods through a fresh set of lenses. I learned that, as the old saying goes, "there's more than one way to scramble an egg". And my method of learning and mastering is a legitimate as the next guy's!
