Anger is like a suit of armor that we wear to protect the most vulnerable parts of ourselves. But what if, in doing so, we're actually preventing ourselves from truly experiencing life and all of its ups and downs? Kids have a way of reminding us of this. They crave our attention and simply want to be seen. And when they experience anger, it's in its rawest form.
We often respond to anger with punishment - time out, pushing it aside, or trying to minimize it. But what if we approached it with a different perspective? What if we saw it as a natural and protective response to our boundaries being violated? What if we took the time to truly understand and process it, instead of swallowing it down and carrying it with us?
Let's embrace the full spectrum of emotions and give ourselves permission to feel.
