Due to winter storms in Northern California this past week, I was without power and internet and not able to upload this episode last week. When weather stabilizes, I plan to return to weekly schedule.
At work and in your personal life: throw it away, give it away, or sell it - clear the way for new and positive things in your life.
Does pride get in the way of work options for you? Since recording this episode I hired a house builder to help us shovel snow off our roof, which he was happy to do since it's the slow season for construction. The going rate for shoveling snow here is $10 an hour - are you willing to work hard in order to do what needs to be done for a lesser wage than you might be used to? As I discuss in this episode, you never know where these jobs might take you. In this case, our time on the roof led to a recommendation for a building job when the weather clears.
So many people make decisions based on pride, and I believe they block opportunities they'll never know about. There was a time when pride worked for us because people didn't want the government taking care of them. Now people on unemployment tell me they won't take job offers because they are holding out for more money.
I share a clip from another podcaster who had these same issues on his mind at the same time I did.
