Meeting both practical and personal needs is challenging because the employees on your team are so diverse. Different people need different things. Listen to this episode and imagine a check list as you ask yourself if these communication blockers influence your communication patterns. 

If you argue with reality, you are wasting time. People are the way they are and in leadership it's your job to adjust to them. People get stuck in working the way THEY want to work. They don't know what you know. There's no way you can possibly know everything there is to know about another person. You may tell yourself you don't have time to document processes, but then you waste time repeating the processes...how many times? Hundreds of times? Once you get the processes documented, it's YOUR job to support everyone in following the processes. If you jump to action without verifying facts, you are the one creating conflict on your team. Understanding what others are thinking is key to co-creating a positive culture. Asking quality questions literally influences the quality of your relationships. Telling yourself you don't have time to communicate effectively is a common communication - and relationship - blocker.
