On today’s episode, we’re talking about a subject that is very near and dear to my heart, especially because this is the season of life I’m walking in now and I know it’s also the space many of our listeners are in right now too.
My guests today are Kim & Mike Barnes. They have each spent more than 30 years on TV here in my hometown of Austin, Texas. Kim was a news anchor/reporter and Mike was a sportscaster. They have two kids who are both recent college graduates. They’re empty nesters and they have parents in their 80s just like me. Now, these award-winning journalists are using their professional and personal experiences to support adult children caring for their aging parents.
Kim & Mike launched Parenting Aging Parents in 2021 to help others trying to navigate this difficult transition of caring for their aging parents. Parenting Aging Parents provide content, connection, and community so caregivers don’t feel so alone and they have the information they need to navigate this challenging time. They have a website with dozens of expert interviews and they also lead a private Facebook group with almost 7,500 members. They like to say, “We’re all in this together!”
