The skill of effective listening is an important part of communication that gives us great fulfillment when we learn to give and to receive. The conversation usually happens on more than one level, that which is said and that which is meant.

Listening is most difficult with our most intimate relationships. Listening begins with the baby when we develop the ability to tune in and know what the baby wants or needs. Offering our undivided attention to kids is one of the most important things we can do as parents. Being fully present and listening to our kids strengthens the parent-child bond, and increases the likelihood that they in turn will listen to you.
