EP13 - Apply This 1 Concept To Unlock Your Impact Potential + 10 Immediate Actions You Can Try As Teachers

 

Teachers, do the terms "relationship-building" and "love your students" sounds abstract?  Do you desire to have a deeper impact on the lives of your students yet not sure where to start?

 

In this episode, I'll introduce a simple concept that helps you understand and even "measure" your relationship with your students.  I will also provide 10 practical actions you can take immediately in your classroom and school such that you can gauge and deepen your impact potential as an educator.

 

Conversation:

  1. Have a conversation before class teacher period or during recess, lunchtime or afterschool
  • Listen to a child's ideas and stories and be an appreciative audience (e.g. What is your dream career?  Which is your favourite spot in the neighborhood?)
  • Share information about yourself and find something in common with the child
  • Ask children to bring in family photos or photos of fond memories.  Give them an opportunities to share it with you and their peers (e.g. in class teacher period, in language lesson)

    • Showcasing

    1. Post children's work
  • Acknowledge a child's effort
  • Call a child's parents to say what a great day she or he having (especially in front of the child)

    • Other

    1. Play a game with a child
  • Learn a child's home language
  • Tell a child how much he or she was missed when the child misses a day of school
