相信很多人聽到這句英文「Where are you from?」當下腦海中應該有答案了吧？
但是當主持人Dana 第一次來到賽夏族的部落時，族人用族語詢問他從哪裡來，他該如何向部落族人介紹自己呢？怎樣問候既道地又不失禮？又會有哪些文化差異呢？

Dana：maya’, It is our second episode today, we have learned how to say hello and to introduce our name. 今天我們要來認識哪些賽夏語的句子呢？

上一集我們練習的是賽夏語打招呼’ita’ saboeh kayzaeh!。以及介紹自己的名字，我是maya’，yako maya’. 那在今天開頭的時候呢，我也有跟大家介紹我來自哪裡。
Dana：Where are you from maya’?
maya’：我來自新竹縣五峰鄉高峰部落，我是賽夏族。yako SaySiyat Say kilapa:.
kilapa:是五峰鄉的賽夏語，Say kilapa:就是來自五峰。我的部落是’oehae’，華語是高峰部落。
maya’：那我先來教大家，在賽夏語裡面，如果你要詢問對方來自哪裡？或者是哪裡人？可以說So’o Say’ino’?
maya’：So’o是「你」，Say’ino’是「來自哪裡」的意思，Dana你來自哪裡呢？So’o Say’ino’?
Dana：I am from California which is of course in theUnited States of America. maya’ how should I respond to that question in SaySiyat?
maya’：你可以說yako Say California.
Dana：yako Say California.
maya’：很好，我們來練習一遍喔！Dana, So’o Say’ino’?
Dana：So’o Say’ino’?
maya’：很好，那你要回答說yako Say California.
Dana：yako Say California.
maya’：Dana你來自California，那你來台灣已經多久了呢？
Dana：我在2008年來到台灣旅行，認識了我現在的太太，She is Atayal from 尖石，然後我就在新竹定居了下來，現在在台灣也差不多十六年了。
maya’：這就是你在前一集你有提到說，你第一個認識的族語，或是認識的族群就是泰雅族。
Dana：That’s right! That was my first experience with Taiwan’s Indigenous language and culture. 因為我的太太Sabung的關係，我才開始接觸到台灣的原住民族文化。
maya’：那Dana你在台灣這麼多年，加上你的太太又是泰雅族，那你對於台灣的原住民族文化有什麼特別的印象嗎？
Dana：For sure! I thought the language sounded really cool, and when I met more Atayal people, I became fascinated with the culture. I had no idea that there were 16 recognized groups, as well as many unrecognized Pingpu groups in Taiwan.
Dana：It’s like in the USA and California alone, there are more than one hundred and Indigenous tribes, but unlike Taiwan, their land and culture was unfortunately been taken away since the early Europeans came. 美國的第一民族很努力在恢復他們的文化和語言，在台灣有很多族群的文化還非常的鮮明，這是我非常驚訝的地方。
Dana：Eventhough my wife is Atayal and we live in Hsinchu, I have learned very little about SaySiyat people. maya’ how many SaySiyat people are there now?
maya’：根據原民會的統計，目前賽夏族總人口數大約是7,114人。
Dana：Wow, that's not many at all. As far as I know there are more than 90,000 Atayal people, which is quite different from the population of SaySiyat people.
maya’：沒錯，這就是為什麼我一直都很想要努力的學習賽夏族的族語以及文化。
Dana：Great work! I can see that you have done so well maya’! You inspire me to learn a new language. So, what are we going to learn today?
maya’：除了開頭，我們聊到了「從哪裡來」的族語之外，我覺得我們今天可以來學一點數字以及年齡的說法。
Dana：Yes! Let’s go.
maya’：好，我們剛剛有講到台灣，目前總共有16個原住民族。十六在賽夏族語裡面是lampez o SayboSi:。
Dana：lampez o SayboSi:
maya’：還有我們剛剛講到賽夏族的人口數總共有7,114人，那這個數字就是hayza’ SayboSi: o ’aehae’ siyaen ’aehae’ kinkaboehoel lampez o Sopat ka mae’iyaeh.（有7,114人。）
Dana：Wow. It’s getting difficult.
maya’：沒錯，是不是很難呢？沒關係，我們待會會從一般簡單的數字開始練習，大家就會慢慢跟上囉！
Dana：That’s true. And now we are going to learn how to say your age. Aren’t we?
maya’：好，如果我要說我幾歲的話，像我現在是31歲，那在賽夏語裡面呢，我們就會說yako mato:ol o ’aehae’ ila tinal’oemaeh. Dana, How old are you?
Dana：And I am thirty-one too, plus ten. I am forty-one actually.
maya’：ok! 所以forty-one 41在賽夏族語裡面，40 叫做monoSpat。
Dana：monoSpat
maya’：1 叫做’aehae’。
Dana：’aehae’
maya’：40加1就是41，我們賽夏語就會念monoSpat o ’aehae’。
Dana：monoSpat o ’aehae’
maya’：對！那如果要講說我41歲，就會說yako monoSpat o ’aehae’ ila tinal’oemaeh.
maya’：好，我們來練習一次，Dana。「我」叫做yako。
