Ep.2 - Travelling as a blind person - Roberto Burceni

Listen Later

Roberto Burceni is a traveler who has been blind since birth, and an expert in the accessibility features of new technologies.

In this episode, he guides us through Rome Fiumicino Airport and shares his personal experience – one in which assistance and technology have played a key role in overcoming the difficulties of moving on one’s own across a large travel hub.

While telling us stories from his own life, from work trips to his honeymoon, Roberto presents the ADR Assistance’s solutions made available for blind passengers, such as free and complete assistance that can be booked in advance, tactile guide strips, and the recent partnership with the Be My Eyes app – a service allowing passengers to connect directly with an operator inside the airport, for real-time and personalized support.

Finally, we also discover the luggage transportation services and receive some advice on how to approach each step with confidence: from entering the airport, to reaching the terminal and boarding the plane.
