“When you can turn your difficulties and hardships into purpose and reason, that is when your entire business will change.” - NiCole Easton (4:33 - 4:40)Brooke Elder & NiCole EastonAuthentic Influencer Podcast

Your Story is Your Greatest Point of Connection

We tend to think of stories as something that exists in books, movies, and fairytales. But stories are all around us and within each one of us. Your story can be a powerful tool that allows you to connect with other people on an emotional level. The challenge is to communicate your story in a way that resonates with your audience. It can be tempting to adapt or create a narrative that you think will best fit your business. However, being authentic is the best way to develop strong connections with others. People are almost always more interested in you as a person than in the products that you’re promoting.

“When you’re clear on the impact that you want to have, and it becomes your passion, that is when you’re going to be able to build a business that you love and is successful.”

- Brooke Elder (6:55 - 7:12)

When it comes to crafting your story, vulnerability is critical. It can be challenging to have the courage to be transparent, especially to strangers. But the more you open up emotionally, the easier it is for others to see you as a human being instead of a marketer. People that resonate with your story will connect with you emotionally, and they’ll see you as one of them. Instead of simply joining a business team, they’re supporting you in your mission, and the business becomes a vehicle to support that mission.

The things in your life that you’ve experienced, overcome, and achieved will shape your story. If you allow them, they can be a powerful tool to give clarity on your mission and purpose and will be the fuel that helps your business thrive.

How to Craft a Story that Speaks to Your Target Audience

Begin by writing your story in the first person. Get it down on paper. Then read it from the perspective of the person you’re trying to reach with your story. With that frame of reference in mind, rewrite your story in a way that will make it most impactful to your ideal reader.

In order to shape your story into a dynamic tool to reach others, it is important to have clarity on who you’re trying to help, and how. Do some market research to uncover some of the biggest struggles people in your audience are facing. Then craft your story and message with the intention to help those people. Remember, you are not the hero of your story, but the person you’re helping is. Your message will lead your prospects to get on board with your business, which is the vehicle you’re using to guide them to their victory.

“The joy that you will experience helping someone else succeed is way better than anything that you could ever accomplish for yourself.” - Brooke Elder (12:08 - 12:14)

When you communicate your story effectively, you can turn your hardships into your biggest victories. Whatever you’ve been through, chances are, there are many others are going through similar challenges. When you share your experience, and how you’ve overcome, you give hope.

This week, take some time to write out your story. You have a message full of hope and inspiration, and a mission to help others find their way to success, freedom, and health. Turn that mess into a message and help others build a business that makes a positive impact in this world.
