Ben Smith threw 21.04m in round 3 of the men's shot put at the 2026 NCAA Championships to secure the the title in his home circle at Oregon's Hayward Field. The Redshirt Frosh capped an outdoor season in which he topped 20m in every competition by surpassing 21 meters for the first time to win NCAA gold. I of course was overjoyed, I've known Ben since he was in middle school.
