I want to tell you something I don't talk about enough.

This year, my wife and I both turned 50. We celebrated 30 years of marriage. We became grandparents. And sitting in the middle of all of that, I felt like I had to stop and just testify — because if I don't give credit where credit is due, I'm doing you a disservice.

I spent the first 24 years of my life without Christ. Angry. Jealous. Prideful. Lost. Working a job going nowhere, barely making ends meet, and slowly destroying the most important relationship in my life without even knowing it. April 10th, 2000 changed everything. I hit the floor — literally — and I gave it all to God. Every bit of it.

What happened next is what I want you to hear.

Doors opened that had no business opening. A random encounter at a landfill led to a job at AT&T. A stranger wrote a thousand-dollar check to send me on my first mission trip to Mexico. I preached the gospel on the steps of the Capitol building in Havana, Cuba — while the police were too busy questioning locals to notice us. A bus driver in Miami prayed with me to receive Christ, and the moment we said Amen, the train was gone.

I'm not telling you these stories to impress you. I'm telling you because I know what life looks like on both sides. And the side with Christ in it wins every single time — not because it's easier, but because you're never carrying it alone.
