This week I’m sharing a really special conversation with my son, Danny. To celebrate my 15 years of being self-employed, we talk openly about what it was like for him growing up with a mum building businesses while juggling single parenting.
From late nights working under his bunk bed to dragging him along to shoots, Danny shares what he remembers, how he felt, and the lessons he’s carried into adulthood. It’s honest, emotional, and at times very funny.
We reflect on the guilt, the chaos, and the surprising joy in those little moments that stuck with him more than I ever realised.
If you’ve ever wondered what your kids might actually think about you working long hours or bringing them along for the ride, this one will hit home. And if you’re a parent running a business, I think you’ll leave with comfort, perspective, and a whole lot of encouragement.
Here are the highlights:
Growing up with an entrepreneurial mum (06:43)
Figuring it out together in London (10:18)
Lessons, guilt, and the truth about balance (13:33)
Advice for parents in the thick of it (23:24)
When work and home blur together (26:18)
Was it all worth it? (35:52)
The small things that matter most (45:22)
