“You need highs and lows to create harmony and make a beautiful life. You need both of them to play together.”
Trisha Peterson (2:55-3:05)
We seem to always want the highs in life while avoiding the lows. The truth is, you need both. Without the lows, you can never really appreciate the highs. Going through the highs and lows in life lets you have a well-rounded and more fulfilling life.
The lows are actually where we learn the most important lessons. When we’re in the lows, we learn how to get to the highs. Like a symphony orchestra where many instruments create harmony, highs and lows work together to create beautiful music in your own life.
“We always went to be on the high… where we feel good and life is beautiful. But it’s because we go through the lows that we get to appreciate the highs.” - Trisha Peterson (1:41-1:57)
For working moms, summer can be a season of lots of highs and fewer lows. Summer can give you more time and space to enjoy with your family. But having so many highs can magnify the lows. We’re much more aware of them, and we can often feel like enjoying the high of spending time with our children leads to the lows we feel when we’re not working on our business. In order to navigate the “momentum rhythm,” we need to remember to take the necessary steps to keep our work life in order and thriving.
Creating a Magic Morning Routine
The right morning routine lets you start each day with a positive outlook. Every day should begin with your goals in mind and a clear vision of where you’re headed. This helps you move forward with intention while balancing all the areas of your life that require your time, attention, and energy. In fact, when things change in our lives, the first things that typically fall by the wayside are the very things we need to fill ourselves up. For many women, it’s their morning routine. Creating a morning routine creates an opportunity to ask yourself, “What do I need to fill my cup?” When you start your morning with a full cup, you’re more able to share with others and do all the things that make your life great.
“It’s a cycle. You’re going to have highs and lows. But know that those highs are coming. And when you’re in the highs, enjoy them.” - Brooke Elder (11:24-11:35)
We often let our cups go empty. Instead, we need to use our morning routines to fill ourselves up so we can give more from the overflow. When you have a magic morning routine in place, you’re in a position to always be giving to others while restoring your sense of purpose. You can give from a healthier place, which benefits you and those you love. The highs and lows are just a natural cycle. When we’re enjoying the highs, we need to be aware of the lows. This lets us truly appreciate the highs while using the lows to make us better in everything we do.
This week, your goal is to create a magic morning routine so that you can create magic every day. When you do this, you can lift yourself and those around you even higher. You create more magic in your life, have a new perspective, and the lows don’t feel as low as you think they are. When you start to create magic moments throughout your day, your cup is always being filled, and you can always be in a place to give to others.
