Listen Later

Van Neistat began filmmaking in the early 2000's when the first consumer movie editing software became publicly available. Before then editing suites where only available to the elite filmmaker budget.
After moving to New York and maxing out his credit card to buy a camera and computer he began making movies. Before long he was collaborating with his brother Casey and creating viral movies way before the days of Youtube. This soon lead to their own TV show on HBO which they filmed on cameras you can buy at your local store and edited it on free editing software (iMovie)
Since then he has gone on to hone his craft collaborating with Tom Sachs in films like 10 bullets, color, paradox bullets and his first feature length film A Space Program to name a few.
In this podcast we go right back to where it all began and follow his career to the present.
