The tongue might be a small lump of tissue but it can alter the entire course of your life, destroy and build churches and societies, express love or bitter hatred. James, the great 1st century pastor pleads with his readers to be aware that the tongue can do all this and even affect eternity! So, how do we use it as a force for good? What is Christianity really about? How do you know you're really right with God?

There are two crowds. The faith team says we just need to know and believe the right stuff. The deeds team says Christianity is all about loving others and doing good works in the world. James, the brilliant 1st century pastor shows us neither team is right, and lovingly leads us to the true balance between faith and deeds that pleases God and does good to those around us.

This week, we offer a heartfelt thanks to those who have found ways to continue supporting our church's work in these trying times. David offers some worship music then we come to God's word.

Are you qualified for the job of 'God'? Most people would probably answer 'no way, I wouldn't dream of it'! But in James chapter 2, the concerned author shows there are really subtle ways of doing this that are harmful to our neighbours, and the message we preach. As a good pastor, he doesn't leave his readers there- but gives them the great news of how they can 'imitate God', bless the people around them, and live in true justice.
