Driving Across Mexico with Kids
Lots of people plan a family holiday in Mexico, but few drive across Mexico for a year or more. That's exactly what Cree Koria and her family are doing right now.
Originally from Atlanta, Georgia (my hometown!), Cree and her husband sold their house, loaded the kids, two dogs and some travel gear into their car and drove into Mexico. Fast forward to today and they've driven across the Mexico twice already, seeing much of the country along the way.
Why Mexico? Why now? It all started with a health scare that left Cree blind in one eye. That's when she and her husband decided not to wait to travel in Mexico any longer.
Driving in Mexico
I ask Cree about some of the most common questions she gets about traveling and driving in Mexico. The most common relate to safety. In contrast to what you see on the news in the US, Mexico has been a very safe traveling traveling experience for them, she explains.
As for driving in Mexico, she does suggest only driving during the day. Most people assume she's referring to "bandidos" at night. She's not. Instead, she's talking more about poorly-lit roads, potholes, and animals on the highway. In many Mexican states, the roads are not well lit, and you may not see the cow sleeping on the road until you're right upon it. Without as many fences, livestock often lie on the road at night because it's warm. If you think hitting a pothole at night is bad, imagine hitting a heifer!

These are just a few topics covered in our conversation. Listen in as we discuss education, resources, driving in Mexico with a US-based car, and more.

Sailing and Exploring the Dominican Republic with Kids
Meet Cole. He already has 20 stamps in his passport and is an integral part of a sailing team and he 's not even old enough to drive yet.
Cole's sailing partners are his mom, Krista and his father, Brad. Together, these three have explored many south Pacific destinations as backpackers and much of the Caribbean as sailors.
I spoke to them from the Dominican Republic, where Cole was just about to start school. Joining a local school for a while in the Dominican Republic is a great way for kids to make friends, learn more about the culture and practice the language in a real-world scenario.
In this Epic Education Radio interview, Brad and Krista talk about parenting and education on the boat and what a typical day is like for a sailing family (hint: there isn't a "typical" day). We also talk about the real risks and rewards of a sailing life, including stories of danger and triumph on the high seas.
Listen in if you're interested in boatschooling, sailing with children, and what it's like anchoring in the Dominican Republic with kids.

Meet Jessika Lynch. Long before she lived in the Netherlands with kids, she came to Holland on her own and made a life for herself.

In this Epic Education Radio interview, Jessika talks about how she made a life for herself in Holland. Her particular situation may not be as repeatable, but she explains how certain visa types may help many of you find your way to the Netherlands with kids, as well.
She describes how the school systems work in Amsterdam. She also talks about issues related to cultural identities, such as learning Dutch and the importance of her children relating to their relatives back in the United States.

EER114: The Family Adventure Summit with Brandon Pearce
Family travel. Location independent businesses. How to educate your kids abroad or on the road. These are just a few of the things I talk about today with my friend, Brandon Pearce.
You may already know about Brandon and his family. His blog, Pearce on Earth, has been one of my sources of inspiration for years. In addition, he and his wife, Jennifer, have been on this program before.
The Pearce family have been traveling together for over eight years. Brandon and Jennifer have established homes in both Mexico and Indonesia, and travel extensively with their three daughters. Brandon built a location independent business that finds their lifestyle completely. The result: a life of exploration, discovery and endless learning.
Today, however, Brandon and I talk mostly about the Family Adventure Summit, a conference he has organized to help other families find their own path to family travel. Here we talk about many of the details of the conference, who it's for, and what's in store for those who attend.
We also talk about a fascinating survey he just collected on family travelers. He asked loads of traveling families to provide details on their finances, family dynamics and more. We discuss a few details of the survey, but you can get your own copy (for free) at the Family Adventure Summit website.
This is going to be a very special event. If you want to hear more about Brandon or the Family Adventure Summit, or if you want to join around 50 other families at the event, tune in. And please share!

In today's episode, we focus on the country she now calls home. There are some amazing things to do in Morocco with children, and Amanda gives us some of her favorites, along with travel tips and advice on train travel in Morocco, taking taxis in Marrakech, getting lost in the souks and more.
One of the most important pieces of advice she gives to family travelers in Morocco is simply to remember the size of the country. Many people visit Morocco with ambitious plans. They want to see wander the markets of Fez, explore the Atlas mountains, take pictures in the blue village of Chefchaouen and take a tour of the Sahara Desert — all in a week or two.
Roughly the size of California, Morocco is a big place, and the distances aren't covered as fast as they be in the United States or Europe. If you're coming to Morocco with kids, be selective of what you want to see and spend less time in transit and more time taking in the sites themselves.
Listen in as we talk about Moroccan transportation, money & safety, accommodation options and many of the best Moroccan destinations to experience in Morocco with kids.
