  • Facebook Messenger NOT Changing Their Subscription Messaging Policy on Dec 31
    Looks like Facebook is not changing their policy after all! This says to me that Messenger is taking more time to understand how people are really using subscription messaging, and that is all to the good. Couple things, though...

    When you're sending those subscription messages, make sure there isn't any sales language or "Buy Now" buttons. It's worth your time to check twice, as we know that Facebook is concerned about those messages.

    And this: When you're reading about changes to Messenger (or anything else really), it's worth your time to check your sources and get the information straight from the horses' mouth. When I hear there has been a change, I check Facebook's developer site to see the information first hand. It saves a lot of misunderstanding!!

  • Tell Them It's A Bot!
    Recently a law was passed in California, stating that all chatbots need to identify as chatbots (as opposed to pretending to be human). The legislation goes into effect for California residents in July 2019.

    Here's the thing: we should all be doing this anyway. Why? It makes people feel safer with your bot. If your bot is upfront and transparent, it builds relationships. And that's what we're here to do, right?
