Angela Jenkins is taking personalised health to a whole new level. Her approach goes far beyond the realms of following a diet or exercise routine.

She uses 15 layers of science, based on our epigenomes  – the complete set of all our genes to create uniquely bespoke programs that encompass everything from how much sleep you really need to function best at to what time of the day you should exercise. It’s called Epigenetics. Here’s a quick snapshot:

If you think of your DNA as a constant, your epigenomes are fluid and change as we develop. These changes (be they developmental or environmental) affect our cells and how they function, both positively and negatively. By understanding how we can “express” certain genes – turn them on or off, we can create a healthier existence for ourselves, our children and even grandchildren.

This field of science is only just beginning to be unearthed and is incredibly fascinating.
