Holy Name Parish Sacred Heart Major Seminary Lay Ministry Endowment ScholarshipThis Scholarship, established in 2021 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Holy Name Parish, is intended to provide financial support for those residing within the Archdiocese of Detroit who desire Seminary education and need financial help to accomplish their dream, specifically persons from parishes and demographics that could not support the tuition.

Jeff Kassab is a speaker with the ECRC Speaker’s Bureau. He’s a lifelong Catholic and sub-deacon in the Diocese of St. Thomas the Apostle. He founded the Genesis 4:9 men’s group in 2016 and is involved in marriage ministry.

Paul Stankewitz received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Michigan State University. He served as City Manager of the northern Michigan community of Onaway and then as Director of the Michigan Catholic Rural Life Coalition. Paul joined the staff of the Michigan Catholic Conference in 2004, where he serves as a Policy Advocate. He also serves as Chairman of the Advisory Committee for Catholic Education Policy at the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Rebecca Mastee, J.D. received her bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and her law degree from Ave Maria School of Law in 2009, graduating cum laude. She served as an Edmund Burke Fellow advocating at the United Nation’s annual Commission on the Status of Women with the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute. For the past twelve years, she has worked as a Policy Advocate for the Michigan Catholic Conference. Rebecca advocates for state policies that recognize the dignity of every person and support pregnant women and families in need.

Parish of the Week: St. Rita Catholic Church in Clarklake, MI

Fr. Bosco Padamattummal is the Parochial Administrator of St. Rita Catholic Church in Clarklake, MI. He was ordained a priest on April 29, 1992 in Kerala, (KER AL AH) India, near the southern tip of the subcontinent as it juts into the Indian Ocean. In 2004 Fr. Bosco came here to serve in the Diocese of Lansing. Since arriving he has assisted at four different parishes – St. Thomas Aquinas in East Lansing, St. John in Fenton, St. Francis of Assisi in Ann Arbor, and St. Mary in Manchester before coming to St. Rita where he is serving as the Parochial Administrator. In December 2015 Fr. Bosco was proud to become a naturalized citizen of the United States.

Clark Durant is president of The New Common School Foundation and co-founder, current board member, former chair and CEO of Cornerstone Schools in Detroit. Durant serves on the Excellent Schools Detroit Board for The Skillman Foundation and is co-chair of the academic subcommittee for the Coalition for the Future of Detroit Schoolchildren. Durant previously served as State Board of Education president, overseeing the development of the Board’s vision, philosophy and mission statement focused on strengthening education standards and accountability and encouraging the development of charter schools in Michigan. He earned a law degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School and is a former director of PMG at Munder Capital. Durant was nominated by President Reagan to serve on the Legal Services Corporation, where he served four years as chairman.

Jesse Ray is the son of Steve Ray and he is on fire about introducing students to the Holy Land. He works for the President at Ave Maria University and handles their pilgrimages there. He also started Inheritance Pilgrimages, which is “dedicated to making it possible for Catholic young adults to encounter Christ on a pilgrimage to Biblical lands by covering up to 50% of their costs.”
