The Archdiocese of Detroit’s Unleash the Gospel at Work and The Catholic Psychotherapy Association invite you to a Morning of Reflection for Mental Health Clinicians.

Please join us for a morning of fellowship, prayer and reflection meant to nourish the vocations of mental health clinicians. The morning will include time to network, a spiritual talk, and open discussion.

Please note that this event is designed for licensed mental health clinicians or those with formal roles in mental health ministry.

Dr. Cassidy Kassab Azzow is the organizer of the 3rd Annual St. Dymphna Mass for Mental Healthcare Workers taking place Saturday May 16th at the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica in Royal Oak. She is Region Representative for The Catholic Psychotherapy Association and a clinical psychologist.

Today is the Feast of St. Florian. Vanessa previews today’s guests/topics and touches upon the topic of mental health as May is Mental Health Awareness Month and both interviews today address this.

Dan Weingartz is the CEO of W&P Management, a family of vertically-integrated businesses in the power equipment and power sports industries. Dan is a partner with three of his siblings and one nephew that has grown a couple retail stores to suite of businesses with over $400 million in revenue. As a third-generation owner, Dan has held a wide variety of roles in his 36 years in the business. He now spends much of his time evaluating strategic partnership and acquisition opportunities, leading the executive team, and mentoring a fourth generation of family members in the business.

Federal court upholds Texas law requiring Ten Commandments in public classrooms

A federal appeals court has upheld a Texas law requiring public schools across the state to display the Ten Commandments—a major victory for religious freedom advocates who have long argued the biblical text is intertwined with America’s legal, moral, and historical heritage.

In a 9–8 ruling, the 17-member Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals held that Senate Bill 10, the law passed by Texas’ Republican-led legislature, does not violate either the Constitution’s Establishment Clause or the Free Exercise Clause.

Ed Van Buskirk is the Founder and President of If U Love Me, a Catholic apostolate dedicated to teaching the wisdom of the Ten Commandments. He is the author of the book and video course on the Ten Commandments, God’s Recipe for a Wonderful Life and creator of the “God’s Recipe for School and Family,” a program that teaches the Ten Commandments to school children and their families. He speaks nationwide and has been featured at the Kansas City-St. Joseph diocesan Eucharistic Congress. He also has written numerous articles that have appeared in Catholic Exchange.

Fr. Tim MacDonald is originally from Flint, Michigan and lived in St. Michael Parish. The MacDonald family counts three priests in their family of six children. Fr. Tim MacDonald and his brother, Fr. Adam, were ordained at St. Mary Cathedral in the Diocese of Lansing in 2000. The oldest of the MacDonald children, Eben, was ordained in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 2012. Fr. Tim attended Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit and Pontifical North American College in Rome. Fr. Tim is currently the Pastor of Queen of the Miraculous Medal Parish in Jackson, Michigan which also has an elementary school.
