His research interests include borderlands pedagogy, citizenship, ethnic studies, DACA, and Hip Hop. Dr. Montoya has a profound knowledge of how we develop inclusive groups that create exclusion which may require some “unlearning” to understand why we fall into that pattern in the first place. Dr. Montoya has a wide range of interests outside of academia as well. One of his interests is in Hip Hop, saying that Chuck D from Public Enemy is his favorite MC of all time.
