I mean, probably. I just got out of a community theatre production of Beauty and the Beast, and it did teach me that monstrosity is not, necessarily, a barrier to love. There are many other community theatre plays out there that teach you that poverty should not render a person unlovable as well, so I see no reason the monster couldn't love the poor boy back.
