RG Veda was CLAMP’s first official work, and boy, did they come out of the gates swinging. In their first official episode, Lucy and Robin go on a quest to summarize the twists and turns of this complicated (and slightly rough) epic fantasy.

Note: at around 10 mins in, we overreach when talking about cultural appropriation, and we make some inaccurate assumptions and generalizations. There are a lot of nuances here that we don’t address (and some straight-out wrong information), and as two white ladies from the US, we don’t really have the right perspective to speak to a lot of this. Big thanks to the listener who pointed this out to us! We will work to do better when we eventually revist RG Veda.

CW: we will lightly discuss themes of suicide, violence, incest, sexual violence, rape, death, genocide, cannibalism, and a good bit of blood and gore. Not as much as the actual source material, though!
