Hi everyone,

Thank you for listening to my podcast. Today, I will be introducing myself in Mandarin. I have listed some difficult vocabulary below, take a look:

面向 miàn xiàng: Meant for. Literally translates to "facing." Usually used only when talking about people. So for example, 面向小朋友的课 (a class meant for children), 面向大众的通知 (an announcement meant for the public).

词汇 cí huì: Vocabulary.

接觸 jiē chù: To come in to contact with (both physically and figuratively). Example: 身体接触 (bodily contact), 這是我第一次接触台湾文化 (This is my first time coming into contact with Chinese culture.

获得 huò dé: To earn, obtain. This word is usually paired with abstract concepts, for example: certain rights or privileges, knowledge, freedom. But it can also be used for tangible things, like: a high score, or points in a game.

科技 kē jì: technology.

挑战 tiǎo zhàn: challenge.

肾脏 shènzàng: kidney.
