Welcome to another episode of Labia Inc.! Today, I am excited to be chatting with Brookelyn Carter, the founder and artist behind Milky Sands and those Check Your Melon and Boob Equality t-shirts we all know and love. After graduating university with a Bachelors of visual arts, Brookelyn was determined to make a difference using her skills and talent, all of which led her to creating graphics that are meant to lift women up and make people feel more comfortable with their bodies. Besides t-shirts, those graphics can now be found on tea towels, scrunches, scarves, and more.
In today’s episode, Brookelyn will share what it’s like for artists who are creating and selling on Etsy, how she is working to expand her brand, and how she is creating sustainable and eco-friendly products. Brookelyn and I will also discuss how we are healing from our own traumas, how society sexualizes women’s bodies, and the importance of unlearning toxic masculinity. Keep listening to hear how Brookelyn is using her art to normalize different body types and change our perception of what a body “should” look like.
