Episode 10 - The Armistice Ball

Listen Later

You decide to confront Ferron after the troubling accusations made by Ivette. He tries to deflect but you pressure him on his relationship to Archduke Sigeric Mavely and with a sigh he admits that he may have told you all some lies.   Before Ferron can tell you more you see a man drunkenly walk onto the center stage calling for the crowd's attention. It's Daylor Kenezzar and he calls for a toast. He starts his speach with a sort of feigned pity for KAAHRP and the lives lost in Grenna then mentioning the serial killer running loose, before remarking on how peculiar it is that the elves only just began their investigation the day after his sister Karmen Kenezzar , disappeared. He points in your direction and accuses you all of being spies. Calling for your group to be taken to the court he marches forward and falls off the stage.   Ioanna heads towards Daylor before seeing him reach towards his sword. Odi casts Calm Emotions on the crowd which succeeds on Daylor, and Confidence begins to address the crowd in your defence. Firn launches a paella from the concessions table at Daylor and Imarra, Odi, and Ioanna try to jump in front of. Only Odi is able to jump in and the pie hits the back of his head. All the while the Korsu begin moving towards the center and call out in unison that the festivities are now over. One Korsu stands between Ioanna and Daylor and she convinces the Korsu to let her talk to him. Daylor, now calm, apologizes and realizes he has deeply embarassed himself and agrees to hear you out by meeting at midnight at the statue at the center of town, even if he is still suspicious. None of you notice that Ferron has disappeared.   The crowd begins shuffling out, Odi casts a spell to look for Ferron and determines that he is somewhere outside the arena already. You find Ferron, unconcious on the ground next to a Korsu near the entrance. The Korsu mentions that Ferron was stalking another partygoer with the intention to kill and the Korsu neutralized him.   Doing your best to move Ferron back to the inn you head back and notice an odd sight, an entire flock of crows rest on top of the arena roof, they suddenly begin to move and the sound of cascading wings fills the air. On the way back you run into Sylvester and Ganonshe who mention that they don't seem to know anything about the disappearance of Karmen, however they say it may be related to the disappearance of their younger brother several months before.   You arrive at the inn and set Ferron down in his bed. As you are back in your rooms, changing into civilian clothes everyone in the group happens to notice a small scroll hidden somewhere on their person. The scrolls appear to be pieces of a whole message written in a language you don't understand. You decide to come back to these after you have your conversation with Daylor at the statue.   Daylor waits for you by the statue. Ioanna leads the conversation and tries to be as transparent as possible about your party's involvement in the investigation. Daylor tells you that Karmen was kidnapped three days ago, the day before you were hired on as Questers. Karmen Kenezzar is the head of the The Morningstar Assembly but Daylor, an employee of The Conclave hasn't heard if they are investigating the disappearance. He also mentions his brother, Jerem, who disappeared much earlier.   Odi shows Daylor a sketch of the Ruby Amulet , to which he looks grim and pulls out an identical amulet out of his breast pocket. He asks where you found the amulet and you mention that you found it on the body of Unknown_NPC1 back in the prisons of Grenna. Though you are unable to confirm that he was infact his brother, Daylor accepts that this may be proof it was him. Handing the amulet to him you see it glow with a sigil as he holds it. Ioanna shows proof of her curse and reiterate that you do not hold allegiance to the elves outside of your deal.   Asking further about the disappearance of Karmen, Daylor tells you that there appears to have been a struggle at her home, but no witnesses. She was a diplomatic leader that wasn't a fan of the elves but less extreme than many in her faction.   Ioanna asks Daylor about his familiarity with Hand Cannons. He is familiar with them, as they also come from Tariel from a prominent family named Silvio. Karmen was against the Morningstar Assembly obtaining Hand Cannons as she had seen how dangerous they could be firsthand.   You find out that Daylor is actually long time friends with Iago Tridega and he agrees to set you up for a meeting with him at 10am tomorrow at the Palace [Conclave] . You two part ways and he wishes you luck on your investigation. Ioanna has Tundi follow him home to make sure he gets home ok.
