Architects should be well versed in public speaking as it is another tool that allows us to communicate our ideas to others. It allows us to reach out and inspire our clients and the general public. But we don’t always say the smartest things.
Eric and I discuss some popular (not necessarily in a good way) quotes that Architects said in 2014 based on an article published by Dezeen magazine. We’ve selected a couple of our favorites and discussed them in this episode.
“98 per cent of what gets built and designed today is pure shit” – Frank Gehry
“It’s not my duty as an architect to look at it” – Zaha Hadid
The building that Eric mentioned he loves: http://www.zaha-hadid.com/architecture/heydar-aliyev-centre/
One highlight of the year was Moshie Sadie:
“We are producing urban places which are disjointed and disconnected and not worthy of our civilisation” – Moshe Safdie
“The criteria for architecture after the tsunami is humbleness” – Kengo Kuma
