The Naru FastCast

Episode 11 - How to avoid the negative effects of shift work

Listen Later

In Episode 11 this week of The Naru FastCast Dave chats about shift workers. By the end of episode 11 you will probably consider yourself a shift worker!

In a world that thrives on constant activity, nearly 30 percent of Americans find themselves navigating the challenges of shift work, where disrupted circadian rhythms can take a toll on health. However, a beacon of hope emerges in the form of time-restricted eating (TRE).

Recent research, conducted with firefighters often entrenched in irregular schedules, reveals that a 10-hour eating window is not only feasible but profoundly beneficial. Shift workers practicing TRE witnessed improved cholesterol profiles, enhanced mental well-being, reduced alcohol intake, and better blood sugar and blood pressure levels.

These findings not only offer hope for firefighters but extend their promise to a broader range of shift workers, including healthcare professionals, who grapple with unconventional sleep-wake patterns.

By aligning eating habits with circadian rhythms, we hold the potential to reshape the health and well-being of those dedicated to keeping our world running around the clock.

Thanks so much for listening 🙏
