Confession gets a bad rap. We have a negative impression of it. Words like shame, condemnation, judgment, discipline come to mind when people think of confessing. But this is not God's way. God's way is grace, mercy, and help in our time of need. Christ is our peace. He is our help. He is merciful and forgives us.
