As part of the roster of the late Fallen Empire Records, Scotland's Lunar Mantra should be on the radar of anyone with an interest in avant garde, atmospheric, or unique metal. Their atmospheric death/black metal spans from blastbeats to Eastern percussion and throat singing.

I spoke to Lunar Mantra guitarist/vocalist Rory Conder about the band's history, their latest EP Psychosomatika, and the origins of Lunar Mantra's ambient songs. We also discussed Rory's label Ascetic Visions, which releases esoteric and experimental extreme metal bands from around the world.
